Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at EGO Shoes? (Of course you have!). This month, we caught up with Kate. She’s our seriously stylish hun, looking after influencers, working on collaborations and making sure all the right content is out on our channels to keep everyone up to date and entertained!
How did you get into this job?
I’ve always worked in Social and Marketing, I used to work in hospitality and events but I always wanted to work in fashion and i’m a total shoeaholic!! I applied for this job last year and was so excited when I got it!
What and where did you study? And did it help with getting your job?
I actually did Sociology at Uni but then realised it wasn’t for me and so did the Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification (CIM) after University which was amazing I learnt so much. That paired with lots of work experience really help me get into Marketing and Social.
Talk us through a typical day for you?
My days vary a lot but they’re always jam packed! My main role is working with influencers and brands across our social platforms as well as making sure we have the right content on our channels. I also work a lot on collaborations we do which is really fun and exciting!
What advice would you give someone who wants a job in fashion? Specifically in Social Media.
My advice would be to get as much work experience as you can, this might sometimes mean working for free but experience is priceless and will get you where you want to go. Social as a whole is very fast paced and Fashion even more so, so being commercially aware and up to date is vital.
What’s your favourite part about the job?
The people I work with are an amazing team who are all so talented at what they do so we all bounce off each other and get on so well, it’s super fun and keeps you driven! My role is also so diverse and I have the freedom to try new things which keeps me really inspired.
What is your favourite work memory?
My ABSOLUTE best memory is when I was in LA with some of the team and we found out that Kylie Jenner has posted us on her story! We went WILD! Amazing day.
What are your favourite shoes from EGO?
My favourite shoes I have are some boots called Rose I have them in all 3 colours!!! One of our new styles Butter is also my absolute favourite and it’s so comfy!
